Who's behind this salt + light therapy in Rochester, MN? The only way to find out is to meet the owners of Solifo--Ryan and Amarilys.
"Wait, aren't you...?" Here are some quick facts that might connect the dots right away.
"Are you...?" is often followed by, "Hal Henderson's son?" Yes. Well-known in downtown Rochester via HGA, 318 Commons, and other real estate and community development, Ryan calls him dad. But coming to call him landlord didn't come easy. It took time and some helpful research to see this venture and location as a fit.
Does he look familiar? Ryan is a Rochester native, a graduate from Mayo High School. After college and a decade later, he returned with Amarilys and their first son.
Ryan's background is in Industrial Design, sketching, modeling and engineering a variety of products. Keeping ahead of consumer market trend, slick aesthetic, conducive materials, and user experience has served the founding of Soliflo. His optimism and hard-working grit are invaluable.
Ryan's ideal Sunday afternoon would be spent in the backyard "sun-maxing" while tending to the chickens and his small garden during reading breaks as a theology nerd.
You may know Amarilys as "watercolor devo," her social media handle and business name. She is an artist, published author, and designer using her favorite medium--watercolor. She's best known as a popular online teacher and fabric designer.
Perhaps you've seen some of her fingerprints in town. Internationally distributed products such as greeting cards at Trader Joe's, fabrics at Pine Needles Quilt & Sew and stationery at Target cycle through town. Creative services and volunteer work with Destination Medical Center, TedX, Rochester Art Center, HGA, Schaeffer Academy, Autumn Ridge Church, Redemption City Church have filled the gaps. Maybe you've even caught a watercolor lesson with her at Spyhouse Coffee, Sargents on 2nd or at Four Daughters Winery.
When she's not working, you'll find Amarilys doodling in her sketchbook at a parking lot between mom-uber drives.
Together, Ryan and Amarilys combine their mutual love for God, family, creativity and salt water to serve up an oasis in Rochester, Minnesota. If not here... they'd probably rather be at the beach.
